Save the date - 7:30PM Saturday August 18, 2012
This August comes one of Fort Henry's premier special events, the 1812 Overture at the Fort, which features the Kingston
Symphony Association.
The 1812 Overture is a truly unique spectacle that
combines the grace and intensity of classical music with the power and
precision of military practices in one breathtaking, historic venue.
Picture a parade square, surrounded by cavernous limestone walls, with a
symphony of fifty five artists lit only by their reading lights, and a
line of crimson Fort Henry Guard standing at attention in the distance.
The sweet sounds of the symphony drift and echo in every corner of the
magnificent citadel, ensuring every seat in the house is witness to a
first class performance. The show concludes with a spectacular cannon
firing display and fireworks finale to Tchaikovskys' 1812 Overture.
In the words of legendary conductor Glen Fast - “Music is a journey best shared with others. Let’s all jump in and feel the rush!”
